Sound Healing / Therapy
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms
of energy, frequency and vibration." …. Nicola Tesla
Sound healing is an ancient practice and has been practiced in all cultures going back thousands of years.
It has scientifically been shown that everything around us vibrates at different frequencies and that includes our bodies and each organ within our body. When exposed to the sound waves from a tuning fork, these cells in the body can absorb the vibrations and resonate at their optimal frequencies, promoting healing and balance. Through a process known as brainwave entrainment, rhythmic sounds can be used to synchronise brainwave activity and help it to achieve a desired state, like being relaxed or focused. Various instruments can be used for sound healing such as common ones being: drums, gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, tuning forks or your own voice.
Sound has been used in medicine for some time for example using ultrasound and Tuning forks are used in the diagnosis of fractures and certain neurological conditions.
Acupuncture and acupressure, both rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), focus on the flow of Qi (vital energy) through pathways called meridians. Tuning forks (also known as Pitch forks) resonate with these pathways, clearing blockages and restoring homeostasis.
In particular for pain relief they can be applied to the specific area or around your body, as their subtle vibrations penetrate down to the tissue and muscles. Its frequencies tune the body’s vibrations on a cellular level and promotes the activation of Lifeforce energy to flow freely without any blockages. It balances the nervous system by aligning the right and the left brain. Another interesting benefit is they aid in repairing our DNA . During a treatment, the sound waves travel deeply into the body both through your ears and directly through your skin, muscles and bones when applied directly to the body.
What to expect during a session
Tuning forks can be used as a standalone treatment or can be combined with other therapies such as massage or with Crystal healing and reiki for example. I use tuning forks to help bring harmony and balance to the body. Each Tuning fork vibrates at a set frequency after being struck and each has a different benefit. I use certain weighted forks both to directly target specific areas of the body or your energy field and chakras and non-weighted ones are used around the body’s energy field.
Some people fall asleep as it can be deeply relaxing, others experience physical sensations, memories or emotions arising. These are all normal and are unique for each person.
